Il Presidente del Kosovo Poesie

Il Presidente del Kosovo The President of Kosovo
Un barbone serbo
che si è dichiarato
presidente del Kosovo
siede ogni pomeriggio
su una panchina di legno
di fronte
alla stazione di Plementina
facendo cenni ad ogni veicolo
che passa.
Quando il Presidente del Kosovo
agita il suo logoro cappello di pelliccia
verso le Jeep scintillanti delle ONG,
si può vedere che la sua faccia bruciata dal sole
sembra una mappa in miniatura
del suo paese,
fino alle cicatrici
che sembrano crateri di bombe.
Ieri, il presidente del Kosovo
portava attorno al collo un grande cartello,
scritto in inglese. Diceva:
IL MIO ULTIMO CAMPIONE DI URINA
È RISULTATO POSITIVO
ALLE SCORIE
NUCLEARI RIPROCESSATE.
GRAZIE AMERICA
PER AVERMI RESO LE PALLE
FOSFORESCENTI AL BUIO.
A Serb tramp
who has declared himself
the president of Kosovo
sits every afternoon
on a wooden bench
across the street
from the Plemetina train station
waving at every vehicle
that passes by.
When the president of Kosovo
waves his ragged fur hat
at the highly polished NGO Jeeps,
you can see his sun-burnt face
looks like a miniature map
of his country
right down to the pock marks
that look like bomb craters.
Yesterday, the president of Kosovo
wore a big sign around his neck,
written in English. It said:
MY LATEST URINE SAMPLE
PROVED POSITIVE
FOR RECYCLED
NUCLEAR WASTE.
THANK YOU, AMERICA
FOR MAKING MY BALLS
GLOW IN THE DARK.
